Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for questions to be asked about his future following another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the team's worst run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got significant backing from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to change things and get a victory of course but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard exchanges I sense the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Failings and Player Response

Slot expressed regret over recurring failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a spell such as this with outcomes like these.”

Jones finished, “However we still have that badge on our chest. And until it is gone, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to the top, prove again the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
