Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities report that a former physician stands accused of performing assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.
The Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
These allegations follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors outline the 45 charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
