Iranian Forces State Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
It said wreckage fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
