After a decisive victory at the Qatar Grand Prix, Max Verstappen has significantly reduced the margin in the championship standings. He now finds himself just 12 points behind leader the British driver and leading teammate his McLaren rival, everything is in place for a nail-biting three-way title decider at the renowned Yas Marina Circuit.

A Victory Forged by Timing and Execution.

His most recent win was anything but predictable. Even though he delivered a superb drive for his team, the race outcome was heavily influenced by a costly strategic call from the Woking-based team. Choosing to stay on track during an early safety car period, the team effectively gifted the race lead to their rival, who seized the moment impeccably.

"I'm excited, I'm happy to go there and fight for it," Verstappen commented. "I go in there with just optimism. I'll push to the limit I can but equally, should I fall short, I still know that I had a fantastic season."

A Stunning Turnaround Powered by Development and Cohesion.

The incredible part of this late-season charge so impressive is the distance he has recovered. Following the Dutch Grand Prix in August, he was an enormous 104 points behind the then-leader Oscar Piastri and had openly dismissed his title chances.

The turnaround began with substantial technical upgrades introduced by Red Bull at the Italian Grand Prix. Modifications to the car's floor and aerodynamic package rectified long-standing performance deficits, allowing the driver to regain confidence with the car once more.

Following those upgrades, his form has been completely dominant, racking up five wins and multiple podiums. He was quick to praise the teamwork behind this resurgence.

"We have triumphed where maybe we shouldn't have, through the correct decision as a group," he noted. "My collaboration with my engineer, GP and the entire crew... we are really well integrated."

The Stakes for a Unforgettable Finale.

Ahead of the head to Abu Dhabi, the championship picture is crystal clear.

• The championship leader is in position to win his first-ever world title if he finishes ahead of both his two rivals or takes a place on the rostrum.
• The challenger must win and requires that Norris finishes off the podium.
• The third contender, trailing by 16 points, needs a victory and witness Norris place outside the top five.

The spotlight now shifts on McLaren, who have let a big points cushion evaporate due to costly errors, including a exclusion for both cars in Las Vegas.
